Installing the Plugin

Step 1: Find the Plugin

Open Figma Community

Go to figma.com/community or click the Resources icon in Figma

Search for the Plugin

Search for “Printify | Print for Figma” or “Print for Figma”

Install

Click the “Install” button on the plugin page

Install from Figma Community

Click here to install Print for Figma directly

Opening the Plugin

Method 1: Resources Panel

  1. Click the Resources icon in the toolbar (or press Shift + I)
  2. Go to the Plugins tab
  3. Find “Printify | Print for Figma” in your installed plugins
  4. Click to run

Method 2: Quick Actions

  1. Press Cmd/Ctrl + / to open Quick Actions
  2. Type “Print for Figma” or “Printify”
  3. Press Enter to run

Method 3: Right-Click Menu

  1. Right-click on any frame or canvas
  2. Go to Plugins
  3. Select “Printify | Print for Figma”
Pro Tip: Pin the plugin for quick access by right-clicking it in the Plugins menu and selecting “Pin to menu”

First Time Setup

When you first open the plugin, you’ll see a welcome screen with options to:

Interface Overview

The plugin interface consists of several main sections:

Configure document settings:
  • Page size and orientation
  • Bleed settings
  • Crop marks and guides
  • Multi-page options

2. Color Tab

Manage color conversion:
  • RGB to CMYK conversion
  • ICC profile selection
  • Spot color settings
  • Color mapping

3. Export Tab

Control export settings:
  • DPI/Resolution
  • Image compression
  • PDF format
  • File naming

4. DPI Check Tab

Verify image quality:
  • Check all images in your design
  • See effective DPI values
  • Get optimization recommendations

5. Presets

Save and load settings:
  • Create custom presets
  • Use built-in templates
  • Share presets with team

The plugin requires the following permissions:

Privacy First: Print for Figma processes everything locally in your browser. We never store or access your design files. See our Security Policy for details.

Verifying Installation

To confirm the plugin is installed correctly:
  1. Open any Figma file
  2. Create a simple frame (press F and click-drag)
  3. Open Print for Figma
  4. You should see the plugin interface load
If you see the plugin interface with tabs for Document, Color, Export, and DPI Check, you’re ready to go!

Updating the Plugin

Figma automatically updates plugins, but you can manually check for updates:
  1. Open the plugin
  2. Look for an update notification banner (if available)
  3. Click “Update” to install the latest version
We recommend keeping the plugin updated to access new features and bug fixes. Check our GitHub releases for update notes.

Troubleshooting Installation

Plugin Won’t Load

If the plugin doesn’t open:
  1. Refresh Figma: Close and reopen Figma completely
  2. Clear Cache:
    • Desktop: Help > Troubleshooting > Clear cache and restart
    • Browser: Clear browser cache and cookies
  3. Reinstall: Remove and reinstall the plugin from Community

Missing Features

If some features appear missing:
  • Check Version: Make sure you have the latest plugin version
  • Pro Features: Some features require Pro subscription
  • Browser Issues: Try the Figma Desktop app if using browser

Performance Issues

If the plugin is slow:
  • File Size: Large files (>100MB) may take longer to process
  • Memory: Close other applications to free up RAM
  • Image Count: Files with 50+ high-res images may need more time
